Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb Names Tom McKevitt As Conference Minority Leader Pro Tempore

Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I,Ref-Canandaigua) today announced the appointment of Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) as Minority Leader Pro Tempore. McKevitt is now the second-highest ranking member in the Minority Conference. His new duties as Minority Leader Pro Tempore include researching key issues, preparing and leading debates and managing Assembly floor activity during session.

"I am proud to announce the appointment of Assemblyman Tom McKevitt as our new Minority Leader Pro Tempore. His experience and dedication to tackling the issues facing our state will be an invaluable asset to our Conference," said Leader Kolb. "I have the utmost confidence in his ability to advance our agenda as we begin the 2017 Legislative Session."

McKevitt is assuming the role of Minority Leader Pro Tempore following the retirement of Assemblywoman Jane Corwin last year.

"I am honored and excited to accept this new role as the Pro Tempore for the Assembly Minority Conference," said McKevitt. "I would like to thank Leader Kolb for this opportunity to continue the tradition of leading our Conference in spirited and thoughtful debate on the Assembly Floor. We will be the voice for a better New York, advocating for policy that strengthens our economy and creates jobs, helps create a more affordable state in which to live and work and increases transparency and accountability in state government."

McKevitt was first elected to the State Assembly in 2006 and previously held the position of Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore. He serves on the following Assembly Committees: Codes, Consumer Affairs and Protection, Election Law and Local Governments. Assemblyman Andy Goodell (R,C,I-Chautauqua) has been appointed as Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore.
