Speaker Heastie Joins Assemblymember Berger in Queens, Announcing $2.53 Million for a New Park at NYCHA's Pomonok Houses

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today in Queens with Assemblymember Sam Berger, visiting the New York City Housing Authority’s (NYCHA) Pomonok Houses and announcing $2.53 million for the creation of a new park in the community.

“On a hot day like this we’re reminded that every community should have easy access to outdoor green spaces,” said Speaker Heastie. “Assemblymember Berger understands the benefit this park will have on this community and fought hard to ensure the funding was available to make it happen.”

“I’m honored to announce we’re taking the first step today in constructing a new park for our neighborhood,” said Assemblymember Berger. “For too long, Pomonok’s outdoor spaces have been neglected. This new park will provide a space for generations of families to enjoy.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Berger joined with officials from NYCHA and the NYCHA Residents Association at NYCHA’s Pomonok Houses to announce $2.53 million in capital funding for the construction of a new park in the community. The park will be situated near the NYCHA Pomonok Houses and local Electchester union co-op developments to ensure families in the community can enjoy the new green outdoor space.
