Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Magnarelli Announce $3 Million for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse on Speaker's Annual Statewide Tour

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today with Assemblymember William B. Magnarelli at Syracuse University to announce $3 million grant to upgrade the seating in the dome, including making it ADA compliant.

“The JMA Wireless Dome has sat at the heart of Syracuse University’s campus for decades,” said Speaker Heastie. “Assemblymember Magnarelli was committed to ensuring this stadium is around for future generations to enjoy and I’m honored to join him here today for this announcement.”

“There’s something special about sitting under the Dome and cheering for the Orange,” said Assemblymember Magnarelli. “This funding will allow Syracuse University to update its facilities, resettle the dome structure and make sure that future fans have the opportunity to see our teams play under this iconic landmark.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Magnarelli were joined by Syracuse University’s Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Mike Haynie, Athletic Director John Wildhack and members of the athletic staff and coaches to announce $3 million to upgrade seating at the JMA Wireless Dome. The project will reseat the dome and make overall modifications to the stadium including, new seats, stair modifications, ensuring the stadium is ADA compliant and providing an overall better fan experience. Since 1980, the nearly 50,000-seat stadium has been the home of Syracuse’s basketball, lacrosse and football teams.
