Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Kim Issue Joint Statement on Success of Assembly Majority Sponsored AI Speaker Pilot Program After It Saves Woman's Life in Queens

Over the last two years, the Assembly Majority has secured $1.2 million in state funding towards a pilot-program which provides seniors a no-cost AI-powered speaker to help with medication management and critical emergency response. Over 500 seniors have benefitted from this pilot program. Earlier this week, we learned that this program has helped emergency responders save the life of 75-year-old Queens’ resident Sung Ja Lee.

We’re incredibly grateful that this technology was able to get Mrs. Sung Ja Lee the help she needed quickly and remain committed to working towards a future where all seniors have access to innovative tools to make their lives easier and safer.
