Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Steck Announce $500,000 for Woodlawn Park on Speaker's Annual Statewide Tour

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today with Assemblymember Phil Steck to visit Woodlawn Park in Schenectady, announcing a total of $500,000 in funding to renovate and update the park’s community building and amenities.

“I want to thank Assemblymember Steck for inviting me to visit Woodlawn Park today and to see his continued effort to ensure all families have the opportunity to experience an incredible outdoor space,” said Speaker Heastie. “All families across our great state should have easy access to green spaces and we must continue to support their continued growth and upkeep.”

“I was honored Speaker Heastie could join me today to visit Woodlawn Park and see how much hard work we’ve put into ensuring this park is accessible and enjoyable for all our families,” said Assemblymember Steck. “This investment in our community building will be critical to our community’s ability to hold events or meetings that brings us all closer together and provides a critical benefit to our neighborhood’s fabric.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Steck joined Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy and Schenectady City Councilmember Carmel Patrick to tour Woodlawn Park, an outdoor space in the city of Schenectady that has playgrounds for all ages and a splashpad for families to enjoy. The $500,000 investment announced today will provide the city with the funding needed to renovate and update the community building and amenities, providing the community the space it needs to meet and hold various events.
