Speaker Heastie Statement on Nomination of Assemblymember N. Nick Perry for Ambassador to Jamaica

Congratulations to my friend and colleague, Assemblymember N. Nick Perry, on his nomination to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Jamaica. In his nearly three decades in the New York State Assembly, he has been a voice for his constituents in Brooklyn, a steadfast advocate for criminal justice reform and supporting the rights of all New Yorkers. He has been a leader, serving in the Assembly as Assistant Speaker Pro Tempore, and in his former role as chair of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus. While we will miss him in the People’s House, I have no doubt that President Biden has made the right choice and that Nick will make a great ambassador to Jamaica.
