Budget Highlights |
The Workers’ Compensation Board reviews claims for workers’ compensation benefits, reports of injuries filed by employers and medical reports from physicians and other health care providers. The Board also investigates fraudulent claims. |
The agency is included in the Public Protection and General Government appropriation bill. |
State Operations |
The Executive requests an All Funds appropriation of $170,257,000, an increase of $2,750,000 or 1.6 percent from State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2003-04. |
The Executive proposes to abolish 33 unfilled positions from the Workers’ Compensation Board. A $2.238,000 personal service savings is included in the Executive’s budget as a result of this action. |
Article VII |
The Executive proposes Article VII legislation that would eliminate the blanket statutory requirement for a stenographic transcription of every Workers’ Compensation Board legal proceeding and permit the Board to use other techniques, as appropriate, to record proceeding such as recording devices and telecommunications. |
