Caucus Applauds President Biden’s Plan to Create Enforceable Rules for Supreme Court

Albany, NY In response to President Biden’s call to create enforceable rules for Supreme Court Justices, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, Chair of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus, released the following statement:

“For far too long the Supreme Court has been without any true checks and balances, resulting in the ethical issues our nation has come face to face with. From the court’s decision to grant presidents broad legal immunity to overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022 and every radical decision in between - reform is absolutely necessary. President Biden’s plan to rectify these wrongs is a step in the right direction to ensure that the highest court in all of the land is held accountable for the decisions it makes.

The President highlighted many issues that can be found in the Supreme Court and believes that the groundwork needed to bring these changes to fruition are executable. By setting term limits for Justices and enforcing a code of ethics for the court, we can rest assured knowing no one person is above the law. I look forward to seeing Congress take action to restore America’s faith in our judicial system.”
