(ALBANY, NY, April 2, 2024) - Caucus members joined community advocates on the Million Dollar Staircase to highlight critical legislation (A.9520/S.8847), sponsored  by Senate Jamaal Bailey and Assemblyman John Zaccaro, in combating theproliferation of illicit cannabis shops throughout the state.

"We did a lot of hard work to legalize adult-use cannabis to make sure that it is done the right way... Unfortunately, people who have been waiting in line for so long are now being cut by the illicit market … We can’t stand for that." Said Senator Jamaal Bailey.

"So, on one hand, you can't be a society that complains about the cost of government and then continue to do the things that increase the cost ofgovernment. Clearly, this legislation is an opportunity to decrease the cost." said Majority Leader Crystal People-Stokes.
