The New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus proudly announces the appointment of Bria Nickerson as its new Executive Director.

“I am honored to serve as the new Executive Director of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus,” said Nickerson. “I am excited to work alongside the membership of the Caucus as we continue supporting and uplifting marginalized communities across New York State.”

Prior to joining the Caucus, Nickerson served as Director of Strategic Planning for the Albany County Legislative Black Caucus, where she oversaw office operations, supervised staff, and helped lead legislative, policy, and community engagement initiatives. Her work included organizing public safety and housing roundtables, annual MLK Food Drives, Black History Month and Juneteenth celebrations, and Denim Day programming in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Nickerson also acknowledged the longstanding impact and leadership of the Caucus.

“The Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus has a proud legacy of advocacy and service,” she said. “I look forward to supporting the priorities and vision of its members and helping strengthen the Caucus’ work on behalf of communities across our state.”

Michaelle Solages, Chair of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus, welcomed Nickerson into the role.

“Bria brings a strong record of thoughtful collaboration, and a deep commitment to community-centered public service,” said Solages. “Her experience engaging directly with communities will be an incredible asset to the Caucus as we continue advancing equity for people across New York State.”

Over the coming weeks, Nickerson will be connecting with stakeholders as she transitions into the role and begins coordinating on upcoming initiatives.
