As Chair of the New York State Assembly Subcommittee on Women Veterans, it is my great pleasure to invite you to join us in the Assembly Chamber in Albany on Monday, June 11, 2007 as we adopt a Legislative Resolution commemorating this year’s “Women Veterans’ Recognition Day” in New York State.

We will also be recognizing the 65th Anniversary of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and Military Nurses.

In recognition of this most important day, please join me for lunch in the Well of the Legislative Office Building from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

As in years past, special seating will be available in the rear of the Assembly Chamber and in the 4th Floor Visitors’ Gallery for all our women veterans.

I would be honored to have you there as we salute women veterans from across New York State. I sincerely hope you will be among those in attendance.

My colleagues and I look forward to welcoming you personally as the Assembly honors these special New York women. My personal best wishes to all!

Women veterans will meet in the Well of the Legislative Office Building for lunch.

In the Capitol, special seating for women veterans will be available in the rear of the Chamber and the 4th Floor Visitors’ Gallery.

At this time, women veterans – especially those that served as military nurses – will be honored during the ceremony.

Two Legislative Resolutions will be adopted. One will declare June 12, 2007 as “Women Veterans’ Recognition Day” in New York State. The second will commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and Military Nurses.

Visit Your NYS Women Veterans Memorial

While in Albany, please visit the Women Veterans Memorial adjacent to the Empire State Plaza. Spearheaded by the Assembly Subcommittee on Women Veterans, the Memorial was unveiled in 1998 as a permanent and well-deserved tribute to the service and sacrifices of New York’s women veterans.
