Department of Environmental Conservation

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is providing financial assistance through Technical Assistance Grants (TAGs). TAGs are citizen participation tools that community groups can use to increase public awareness and understanding of remedial activities taking place in their community. TAGs are intended to help grant recipients understand existing environmental data developed about the site, comment on site remedial activities and proposals and share the information obtained with the public.
  • Eligibility: Non-profit community organizations.
  • Funding: Contact the Department of Environmental Conservation for figures.
  • Deadline: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Department of Environmental Conservation

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is providing financial assistance for municipal landfill gas-management projects that promote improved air quality at solid waste landfills and encourage energy recovery from landfill gas.
  • Eligibility: Non-hazardous solid waste landfills that are municipally owned or operated. The landfills may be active or inactive. Active landfill gas systems must meet current landfill gas-management requirements. In addition, only landfill gas-management costs incurred after April 1, 1993, are eligible for grant reimbursement.
  • Funding: The funding for this grant has been reduced. Applicants will be placed on a waiting list to receive funding. Contact the Department of Environmental Conservation for more information.

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture is accepting applications for the New Era Rural Technology Competitive Grants Program. Grants will be provided to projects that are focused on technology development, applied research and/or training to develop an agriculture-based renewable energy workforce to serve rural communities. Projects should produce graduates who can strengthen the nation’s technical, scientific and professional workforce in the fields of bioenergy, pulp and paper manufacturing, and agriculture-based renewable energy resources.

National Endowment for the Arts

The National Endowment for the Arts is accepting applications through the Challenge America Fast-Track project. Challenge America Fast-Track offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved communities—those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability.

National Institutes of Health

The National Institutes of Health is accepting applications through the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Grants will be given to support projects that serve a diverse array of preclinical and/or clinical research projects that accelerate the translational discovery and/or development of safe and effective medications for the treatment of substance-related disorders (SRD). Research projects must be focused on moving closer to—or obtaining—FDA approval of medications for the treatment of these disorders.
