The governor’s budget recognizes that New Yorkers are counting on us. They are counting on us to lower their taxes, make health care more affordable and ensure that schools are run efficiently and effectively.

I was pleased to see that the governor’s STAR program targets tax relief to middle class families and seniors who need it the most. Schools in Orange and Sullivan counties will see more state aid under this budget, and that’s more good news for taxpayers.

The executive’s budget is the first step toward getting New York State back on track. We all have the same goals, but how we reach them may be different. In the coming weeks, we may hit a few speed bumps, particularly when it comes to health care, but I am confident that we will be able to come together and do what is best for the people of New York State.
