Brook-Krasny Calls for Extension of CDPAP Registration Deadline

Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island, Bay Ridge) joined his colleagues at a press conference today to call for a delay in the implementation of changes to the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) from April 1 to July 1. CDPAP provides home care services to 280,000 elderly and disabled New Yorkers who are now required to register with the single statewide fiscal intermediary, Public Partnerships LLC (PPL), by April 1. The transition period began on Jan. 6, 2025, and with such little time for a seamless transition, many have yet to complete the registration process.

The current proposed changes, set to take effect soon, threaten to disrupt care for thousands of New Yorkers who rely on the program for essential home-based assistance. As a result of this, Assemblyman Josh Jensen (R,C-Greece) and Sen. Patrick Gallivan have introduced new legislation (S.6689) aimed at protecting New Yorkers’ access to home-based care by extending the timeline of the newly proposed changes to the program.

“The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program is a lifeline for countless elderly and disabled New Yorkers across the state,” said Brook-Krasny. “Without access to these resources, many will not be able to receive the care they need. This is why we must take action to extend the registration deadline to ensure everyone who needs these vital resources can take advantage of them. My colleagues and I will continue to work on both sides of the aisle to ensure these changes are made and our elderly and disabled communities are taken care of.”
