Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey Visits Local Schools for ‘AG in the Classroom’ Program in Collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension
Over the last week, Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey (R,C-Geneseo), in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston and Steuben counties, visited Caledonia-Mumford School, Prattsburgh School and Livonia School to participate in the ‘Ag in the Classroom’ initiative. In honor of National Agriculture Week, students explored agricultural literacy through engaging and hands-on activities all across New York state. Bailey read Seasons on the Farm by Chelsea Tornetto and led interactive exercises with the children, making learning about agriculture both fun and educational.
“Our district’s foundation is built on agriculture. By educating our youth through programs like Ag in the Classroom, we are nurturing the next generation who will thrive in our community. I was honored to be a part of this program and look forward to continuing to support opportunities that inspire and educate our students about the vital role agriculture plays in our lives.”
Following the lessons, the book was donated to each school’s library, complete with a bookplate recognizing the donor and celebrating New York Agriculture Literacy Week, ensuring students can continue to enjoy and learn from it long after the program.
