Bailey Presents $40,000 Check to the OWWL Library System

Today, Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey (R,C-Geneseo) presented the OWWL Library System with $40,000 in state funding to expand access to digital collections and provide flexible funding that libraries can apply to local priorities. The funding reflects Bailey’s commitment to strengthening community libraries and ensuring residents have access to the resources they need.
The OWWL Library System is a New York state-chartered, cooperative public library system that connects and supports libraries across Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming and Livingston counties. As one of 23 public library systems in New York state, OWWL was created to enhance collaboration, shared services and resource access among its member libraries.
“Libraries are essential community resources that provide residents of all ages with access to information, technology, educational opportunities and so much more. I am proud to have secured this funding to help expand digital access and support the local libraries that serve our communities every day,” said Bailey.
The $40,000 allocation will be distributed as follows:
$20,000 for the OWWL OverDrive Digital Collection
- Added to the system’s OverDrive budget to expand available digital resources.
- Supports the purchase of additional audiobooks and e-books.
- Helps ensure residents have greater access to digital library materials.
$20,000 in Direct Aid to District Libraries
- Distributed evenly among the 16 OWWL member libraries located within Bailey’s district.
- Each library will receive $1,250 to support local needs and services.
OWWL Library System Executive Director, Ron Kirsop said “Every library budget is a record of choices: what to add, what to sustain and what to cut. This funding gives sixteen libraries more room to say yes to their local priorities while strengthening a digital collection shared across our four counties. We are grateful to Assemblywoman Bailey for investing in both the resources we build together and the decisions best made locally.”
Bailey will continue to support libraries, knowing the important role these institutions play in providing educational opportunities, connecting residents with resources and serving as trusted community hubs throughout the district.
