Goodell Thanks All Involved In "I Love My Park Day" At Midway State Park
Assemblyman joins local volunteers and organization as part of statewide effort
Assemblyman Andy Goodell (R,C–Chautauqua) recently joined local volunteers for I Love My Park Day at Midway State Park. The day was an opportunity for volunteers to assist in preparations for the upcoming season at the park. The event was part of a statewide initiative made up of thousands of volunteers to clean-up and beautify more than 35 state parks and historic sites.
"I would like to especially thank those who worked so hard to make this event such a success," said Goodell. "Bob Wooler and the Friends of Midway Park are doing an extraordinary job with the restoration of the historic train ride this year, and I look forward to seeing their efforts on the carousal next year. I also would like to commend Kate Gross and all of the park employees who worked to make the initiative so worthwhile. Finally, the effort by all the volunteers exemplifies how Midway State Park is truly a special place to the Chautauqua County community. Hearing everyone reminisce about the memories they created as a child visiting the park and the joy Midway has brought to them as they bring their children and grandchildren today shows why the park remains important to our community now and into the future."
During the all-day event, volunteers painted and landscaped the arcade and office buildings. They also planted flowers in the rain garden in an effort to spruce up the park for opening weekend.
"This was a great opportunity for all of us who love Midway to help keep the park in great shape for future generations to enjoy. Again, I applaud the efforts by all involved in making the day such a success," concluded Goodell.
The rides and arcade at Midway State Park are open weekends only from Memorial Day through mid-June, and then weekdays Wednesday through Sunday, weather permitting. Operating times may vary so patrons are recommended to contact the park office at 716-386-3165 for more information.
