Morinello Condemns Bill Allowing Prison Inmates to Vote
A statement from Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I,Ref-Niagara Falls) in response to
Senate Bill 6821 allowing inmates at correctional facilities to vote.
Once again, New York progressives are showing their true colors and prioritizing lawbreakers and criminals over our law-abiding citizens, said Morinello. This week, the state Majority submitted a bill to allow inmates the right to vote prior to paying their debt to society. When you commit a crime, you give up some of your societal privileges and have to pay a price for the decision you made. Once an inmate has completed their sentence and paid their debt to society, they have the opportunity to vote again. Allowing them to vote in prison is wrong and unfair to the thousands of law-abiding residents of New York.
