Local service dogs from the Schenectady Police Department, as well as the Schenectady County and Montgomery County Sheriffs’ Departments, will be present. Following the ceremony, a resolution will be presented in the State Assembly, officially designating March 13th as K-9 Veterans Day in New York State, honoring the enduring service and protection provided by these remarkable animals. From their historic roles in World War II to their ongoing duties today, military and law enforcement canine units hold a cherished place in American history.
