Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara Honors Local Veterans, Families During Special Ceremony

NEW additions to Veterans Memorial to be unveiled including John Michael Grassia III

On Saturday, June 15th, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara will be hosting a special ceremony at the VIAPORT Rotterdam Mall honoring three local veterans.

NEW Additions to the Veterans Memorial to be unveiled during the event:

  • Harold T. Brown – Harold T. Brown valiantly served in the United States Army. Drafted at the age of 20, Harold endured being a Prisoner of War in Korea from 1950-1953, surviving the death march and making multiple escape attempts, embodying true valor and dignity. For his extraordinary service, he was awarded two bronze stars, one for valor, among several other medals and honors. Harold's military service stands as an enduring inspiration to future generations and exemplifies his dedication to our nation.
  • John Michael Grassia III – John Michael Grassia III, who served with distinction in the United States Army National Guard. John enlisted at 18 and completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, earning the MOS 15T - UH-60 Helicopter Repairer. From 2013 to 2014, he served in Kuwait during "Operation Enduring Freedom". Throughout his military career, John received numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, exemplifying his dedication to his country and his exceptional service.
  • Edlouis McAlister Perkins – Edlouis McAlister Perkins served in the United States Army for 29 years. Drafted at age 21, Edlouis completed tours in both Korea and Vietnam, earning various military medals and decorations, including the Bronze Star. His distinguished military career exemplifies dedication and valor, serving as an inspiration to future generations.
