Assemblyman Santabarbara Announces Assembly Passage of Key Transparency Bill to Hold Thruway Authority Accountable

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced today that the New York State Assembly has passed Assembly Bill A7086, legislation he proudly cosponsors to increase financial transparency and public accountability within the New York State Thruway Authority.

“This legislation is about trust – trust in how public dollars are spent, and trust in the agencies that serve our state,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “As a cosponsor of A7086, I’m proud to support this commonsense measure that ensures more frequent and detailed financial reporting from one of New York’s most important public authorities.”

A7086 amends state law to require the Thruway Authority to submit biannual financial reports detailing receipts, expenditures, and contract activity. These reports would be delivered to the Governor, the Legislature, the State Comptroller, and the Director of the Budget, expanding the scope and frequency of existing oversight measures.

“This is a meaningful step toward greater accountability,” Assemblyman Santabarbara added. “Taxpayers deserve transparency from every level of government – including the authorities that manage our transportation infrastructure.”
