Assembly Member Angelo Santabarbara Named to Prominent List of Environmental Leaders
New York – The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top policy priority in New York State, has named Assembly Member Angelo Santabarbara to a list of the state’s most promising new environmental leaders.
Assembly Member Santabarbara represents the 111th District, serving Amsterdam, Rotterdam and western Schenectady.
NYLCV’s New Generation 2013 list encompasses 13 lawmakers who were recently elected to the New York Legislature. Working in conjunction with the leadership of both houses and political parties, these up-and-coming leaders promise to be a driving force for clean air, safe drinking water, renewable energy and community resilience this year.
“From climate change to clean energy, New York faces many complex environmental challenges in 2013,” said NYLCV President Marcia Bystryn. “Fortunately, there is a new generation of environmental leadership in the New York State Senate and
Assembly that is committed to addressing these challenges head-on. Because of his impressive track record and plan for a more sustainable future, we are proud to count Assembly Member Angelo Santabarbara among our New Generation 2013.”
In response to the news, Assembly Member Santabarbara said: “I’d like to thank NYLCV for this tremendous honor. I am focused on working to make New York a better place to live and work while protecting our natural resources that makes our state so unique. As a LEED certified engineer and a member of the Assembly Energy Committee, I will continue to promote smart policies that encourage investments in alternative energies, sustainability, and brownfield cleanup and redevelopment.”
NYLCV's New Generation 2013 list examines each of the 13 lawmakers' biographies, their achievements, their records and their environmental philosophies. Along with this information, NYLCV has posted the lawmakers' environmental questionnaires that they completed last year. The questionnaires provide detailed insights on specific policies, including each lawmaker’s commitment to clean energy, the Environmental Protection Fund and public health.
