Santabarbara Bill Ratifying Contract for State Troopers Signed Into Law
A new law authored by Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara (D-Rotterdam) to ensure our state troopers receive the salaries and benefits they have earned has been signed by the governor (Chp. 234 of 2015).
“State troopers put their lives on the lines for the safety of our communities every day and we owe them our support. This legislation recognizes the sacrifices and hard work of our state troopers by providing the funding to pay for their salary increases and benefits,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara.
“The New York State Troopers PBA would like to thank Assemblyman Santabarbara and Assemblyman Abbate for their consistent leadership and support of our members. The job of a New York State Trooper is difficult and dangerous, and this legislation is a form of support for our members in terms of fair wages and benefits,” said PBA President Thomas H. Mungeer. “It is honorable for the New York State Legislature to provide support for the brave men and women who wear the uniform of a New York State Trooper and who dedicate themselves to serving and protecting the public.”
Santabarbara’s legislation includes a $35.9 million appropriation to fulfill the provisions of collective bargaining between the state and the state troopers that extends until 2018.
