Statement from Assemblyman Santabarbara on State Budget Extender
Unfortunately, the Governor and the Legislature have not reached an agreement on the state budget and it was important to take action on a budget extender today that continues funding for essential public services our communities depend on. The budget extender keeps our hospitals and public schools open, and supports law enforcement and first responders. It also makes a significant investment to rebuild aging infrastructure and included the funding to support direct care workers that we fought so hard for this year.
In the meantime, we must complete the state budget and deliver the funding our communities depend on. The Governor and the State Legislature should remain in Albany and keep working until the state budget is completely done with an agreement that puts people first, helps local families, and supports our local communities.
