Santabarbara Joins Nurses Across the Capital Region to Call on Governor to Sign Safe Staffing Bills
Saying “thank you” is not enough – as elected officials we can truly thank our frontline nurses by addressing the shortage we are facing. The reality is, too many of our nurses are overworked almost around the clock and face dangerous circumstances. That’s why I was a sponsor of legislation passed in the State Assembly this week that would get more nurses into hospitals and nursing homes and improve working conditions.
These brave men and women put their lives on the front line during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide care for our most vulnerable in need. And when we couldn’t be there for a family member or friend receiving health care during the pandemic, we knew we could rely on nurses to uplift our loved one’s health and spirit.
Enough is enough. Nurses are the heart and soul of our healthcare system. This legislation is too important to just sit on the Governor’s desk. Today, I call on him to right this wrong and move expeditiously to sign this safe staffing legislation into law without delay!
