Assemblyman Billy Jones Presents Plattsburgh Barracks Veterans Park with $125,000

Assemblyman Billy Jones (D-Chateaugay Lake) presented members of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) PFC Robert A. LaFountain Chapter #179 and the City of Plattsburgh with a $125,000 check for improvements to the Plattsburgh Barracks Veterans Park, located on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. Jones presented the check after a ceremony at the park in honor of Veterans Day where they recognized Chazy resident Master Sergeant Brian S. Genier, United Sates Air Force, for his dedication and service to our country.

“I am proud to secure this funding for the Plattsburgh Barracks Veterans Park,” said Jones. “It is so important to honor our local veterans for all their sacrifices, and this park is one way to not only recognize their dedication and service, but also to celebrate Plattsburgh’s military history. Members of the DAV and the City of Plattsburgh work diligently to maintain and preserve this park, and I am honored to help them in their mission.”

“I want to thank Assemblyman Billy Jones for securing this funding,” said Commander of DAV Chapter #179 Steve Robart. “We would not be able to do necessary improvements to the Park without this funding, and I appreciate the assemblyman for his continued support in recognizing North Country veterans.”

With the funding, the City of Plattsburgh and members of the DAV will be making renovations to the park including improving the sidewalks and installing new lights.
