Manktelow: Demanding Transparency and Accountability in New York's COVID Response
Yesterday, Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R,C-Lyons) joined Congressman Marc Molinaro and members of the Assembly and Senate Minority Conferences to convene a press conference to renew calls for an independent review of the state's response to the COVID-19 crisis.
On this significant day, marking the fourth anniversary of the controversial order issued by the New York State Department of Health mandating nursing homes to accept COVID-19-positive patients, leaders gathered to address the profound impact of this decision. The consequences of this directive have been tragic, with countless lives lost among our vulnerable senior citizens.
Standing in solidarity with members of "Voices for Seniors," who tragically lost family members in nursing homes during the pandemic, Manktelow and his colleagues amplified their call for transparency, accountability and justice. These grieving families demand answers, as they continue to seek information regarding the state's actions during the crisis.
“It's imperative that we have transparency to fully comprehend the shortcomings in New York's COVID response. Today, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the families who have endured unimaginable loss, demanding accountability from our leaders. We must enact meaningful reforms to safeguard against similar tragedies in the future. We have waited too long for this information and need answers,” said Manktelow.
