Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R,C,I,Ref-Lyons) joined his colleagues today on the first day of New York’s 2019 legislative session , promising to “hit the ground running.

“I am eager to get started,” Manktelow said.  “There is a lot of challenging work ahead. I share Minority Leader Kolb’s priorities: enacting a permanent property tax cap, improving infrastructure, creating viable economic development programs, passing meaningful ethics reform, making education more affordable and winning the battle against the opioid epidemic. I am not expecting any of it to be to be easy; what is most important is doing what it takes to make government more efficient and less expensive for our taxpayers. I am committed to championing the concerns of the people in the 130^th Assembly District.”

Manktelow will soon begin his assignment on the Oversight, Analysis and Investigation Committee, on which he is the ranking minority member. He will also serve on the Banks, Labor, Small Business and Veterans’ Affairs committees. As the owner of a farm, and a U.S. Army veteran, he is appreciative of the assignments and called them appropriate reflections of his experience.

“I want to see Upstate’s concerns given the attention they deserve,” Manktelow said. “It can be difficult to make decisions while being fiscally conservative; but the resources of this state should be used to benefit all New Yorkers.”
