Manktelow Disturbed at Disrespectful Water Attacks on Police
A statement from Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R,C,I,Ref-Lyons)
August 2, 2019
Recently, there have been a number of incidents in New York, particularly in downstate NY, where people have been dumping or throwing water onto members of the police force. I am utterly appauled by such disrespectful behavior towards the brave men and women who have sworn to protect and serve our communities. While right now its just water thats been used, there is concern someone might take it a step farther with other substances such as bleach or other chemicals. For this reason, I will be signing onto a piece of legislation to make such acts a Class E felony to throw, spray or douse a police officer on-duty with any substance. This is no way to treat any human being, regardless of your opinion on their job profession.
