Assemblywoman Woerner Votes to Repeal Outdated Executive Orders, Including ‘Food-With-Alcohol’ Rule
“There’s no doubt that we’re in a much different place today than we were over a year ago when this devastating pandemic began. As New Yorkers continue to get vaccinated and we begin to return to some form of normalcy, it’s past time that we lift some of the restrictions put in place by the governor that are no longer necessary and impede our communities’ recovery. Today, I voted to repeal some of these executive orders, including the nonsensical food-with-alcohol rule that has only added to the burdens that our bar and restaurant owners face during this difficult time.
“Checks and balances are what keep our government running smoothly, which is why I fought to revoke the governor’s expanded emergency powers earlier this year and am proud to be taking another step today in returning power back into the hands of the people. Our families, small-business owners and restaurant workers have been through enough, and responsibly repealing these measures is in all of our best interests. That being said, repealing these measures doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods yet. To truly get back on track, we must also continue to do our part to stop the spread by getting vaccinated and following safety guidelines. I’ll continue using my voice to stand up for what our communities need to move forward and recover.”
