Assembly Assistant Majority Leader Charles D. Fall Statement on the Fatal Shooting of 13-Year-Old Jamoure Harrell
“We are heartbroken as a community by the news of this tragic shooting. As we navigate through this difficult time, please keep the family, friends, classmates, teachers, and loved ones of Jamoure in your prayers. We cannot tolerate these senseless acts of violence any longer. Our children deserve to live out their childhood.
I have two daughters and upon hearing this news, I wanted nothing more than to go find them and hug them. Through our grief and anger we must come together and find solutions to combat gun violence. Our children need guidance and support now more than ever. We must be just as intentional with our actions as we are with our words. I am committed to working with the community, my colleagues and law enforcement in exhausting every option to ensure that we don’t lose another child. My team and I have been in contact with the Harrell family and are ready to provide support in any way we can. Let’s all continue to lift up our community so that we see an end to this violence that plagues us.”
