Today, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul announced at a press conference that Governor Andrew Cuomo approved $10 million in funding for the North Shore of Staten Island through the 4^th cycle of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

New York State, in collaboration with the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, earmarked the funding and investments from a statewide program that is set to help communities boost their economies by transforming downtowns into vibrant neighborhoods where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work and raise a family.

With the recent and current revitalization of downtown Staten Island which provides state-of-the-art civic, commercial and cultural centers, this award will enable Downtown Staten Island to capitalize on the continuation of rapid growth and focus development efforts on creating world –class venues for the Bay Street Corridor that runs from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal and historic St. George neighborhood to the Stapleton and Tompkinsville area.
