“We all have to understand that acts of violence against law enforcement will never be a tolerable response to community strife. The two incidents this weekend of lethal action against Bronx officers of the New York Police Department have heightened tension and fear among our police officers and the civilians they are sworn to protect.

The men and women of the NYPD stand committed to protecting and serving our residents and they deserve appreciation, not senseless and life threating retribution. Now is the time for us to unite and denounce acts of violence and maltreatment of all members of communities, civilians and law enforcement alike.
