Assemblyman Charles D. Fall and the Staten Island African Community Hold a Virtual African Immigrant Heritage Celebration
Assemblyman Charles D. Fall (D- Richmond) today held a virtual African Immigrant Heritage Month celebration. The guest speaker was Ambassador Abid, Secretary General & Ambassador to the United Nations: International Human Rights Commission.
The event celebrated the contributions of the African immigrant community and how they play a crucial role in the growth of our country, city and state. The conversation also centered on how the community can continue to build on those strengths for future generations.
Highlighted and often defined as the African Diaspora, the event focused on the worldwide collection of communities descended from native Africans and their past, present and future influences on the Americas’.
“We can not lose site that New York has long been an inspiration of hope for immigrants from across the globe and how their influences continue to play an integral role in our society. Events like this accentuates and magnify those contributions,” said Assemblyman Charles D. Fall.
