Lavine Secures Half-Million Dollars for Hicksville Students
Hicksville, New York – A momentous influx of money has been secured for the children of Hicksville thanks to Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore). Lavine advocated for $500,000 in special funding for Hicksville Public Schools as part of the recently passed 2024-2025 state budget. The money will be used to enhance programs and facilities within the district. This money comes in addition to a 6% increase (totaling nearly $2.5 million) in foundation aid which is part of more than $5 billion slated for public school districts on Long Island in the budget.
Lavine also secured a $25,000 grant for the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club. The club works closely with the district and is a vital resource by providing after-school programming for students.
All of this comes after just last year, Lavine secured capital grants to fund renovations to the high school administration building, the robotics program, and programmatic funds for the Boys and Girls Club going back several years.
“I am proud to have secured these funds to support public education in my district,” Lavine said. “Our children are the lifeblood of the community and it’s my hope that this money will strengthen what is already a wonderful school district with dedicated and caring educators who want nothing but the best for our children.”
