Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I,Ref-Schoharie) is announcing the kick-off of his Summer Reading Challenge for this year, an annual program he facilitates that recognizes children who read 15 minutes a day for 40 days during the months of July and August. Tague has operated this program with the belief that reading in the summer months helps young people retain a love for learning during their break from school, while also providing families with an opportunity to come together to share a story or discuss topics that capture a child’s imagination.

“With prices of day trips and other summer fun rising, reading books from local libraries offers families a way of exploring both our world and fictional ones while learning, talking and laughing together,” said Tague. “Fostering a love for reading in our children from an early age puts them on a path to success for life, helping kids develop curiosity about the world around them and providing them with the skills to learn about it.”
