Tague Demands Cuomo Amend Executive Order to Allow Service Members to Return Home
Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I,Ref-Schoharie) is calling on the governor to create an exemption for military personnel in his recent Executive Order requiring individuals entering New York from states with high COVID-19 infection rates to quarantine. As written, Cuomos Executive Order provides no such exception and would require returning members of the military, who often only return to their home states for brief familial visits, to quarantine themselves for a 14-day period.
As has become the norm in this period of Cuomos one-man rule by emergency powers, he has put out another rushed and harmful Executive Order, said Tague. This time he has jeopardized the ability of our service men and women to come home and see their families by forcing them to quarantine for two weeks. To deprive the members of our armed forces of family visits theyve waited months for is cruel and spits in the face of the sacrifices these heroes have made for all of us. This half-baked Executive Order must be amended to rectify this error immediately, because our armed forces dont deserve to be put through this, considering all they do for all of us.
