Tague Statement on Gov. Cuomo’s ‘Budget’ Address
From Assemblyman Chris Tague (R-Schoharie)
“The 55-minute, long-winded speech by the Governor included multiple calls for unity while encouraging elected officials to work together. He immediately pivoted to threatening the incoming Biden administration with litigation should they not comply with his demand for a $15 billion bailout. The hypocrisy demonstrated today has become hallmarks of his administration.
“A budget presentation should detail solutions to problems, not baseless political threats. Gov. Cuomo's budget proposal today was just another opportunity for him to deflect blame to Washington for his own administration's shortcomings. Unless our state budget focuses on ramping up vaccine distribution, investing in local governments, helping our small businesses and making sure there are enough jobs left to put people back to work, nothing he said matters.”
