Tague Selected to Serve on Legislative Commission on Dairy Industry Development
Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie) was selected to be one of the Assembly Minority Conference's members on the Legislative Commission on Dairy Industry Development. Tague also serves as the ranking member of the Assembly Committee on Agriculture and has been a leader in advancing agricultural issues during his time in the Assembly.
The dairy industry in New York State generates revenue of over three and a half billion dollars annually and employs approximately sixty thousand people in the production, processing and distribution of its products through to the retail level. On this commission, Tague and his colleagues will review laws and regulations that affect the dairy industry in order to make recommendations to the legislature on how to improve the competitive stance of the industry
“I am grateful to Leader William Barclay and my colleagues to have the opportunity to serve on this committee and give an even greater voice to the dairy farmers and professionals of our state,” said Tague. “As a former dairy farmer myself, I can say that it isn't easy in New York, but by working with farmers on legislative solutions such as the recently announced‘NY Food Insecurity, Farm Resiliency, and Rural Poverty Initiative’, I am confident we can bring about a bright new day for agriculture here in New York.”
