Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie) is calling on the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) to vacate Gov. Cuomo’s Emmy award following recent revelations that the governor actively covered up the amount of deaths that took place in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tague has for months been calling for further investigation into the underreporting of nursing home deaths in New York state throughout 2020 and believes that the governor should not have an Emmy when he hid nursing home fatality data from the public to protect his public image and celebrity.

“Throughout this pandemic, Gov. Cuomo cared more about his moment in the spotlight than the lives of thousands of New Yorkers, and the Academy needs to stand up and recognize his role in the tragedy that took countless loved ones away from us,” said Tague. “The actions our governor took this year are nothing to celebrate, and him retaining his award in the wake of this report would be an insult to the thousands of families who lost those close to them due to the governor’s actions.”
