Tague Calls Out Governor’s Weakness in Budget Process Following Massive Tax Hikes in Proposed Assembly Budget
“The proposed budget from Assembly Majority is nothing short of a progressive pipe dream and would stick our state with billions in new taxes, even as it appears the approximately $100 billion in federal aid our state is set to receive will wipe away our state’s deficit. The proposed tax increases dwarf what the governor himself proposed in a worst-case scenario for our state receiving minimal aid, in what should be a clear signal to all of us that the governor has lost all effective leverage in this budget process. We need a leader who will stand up to socialist policies and for what’s best for everyday New Yorkers across the state, not one who will be walked over by radical downstate politicians and progressive activists. If the governor genuinely cared about getting the best budget possible for working New Yorkers, he would resign and let somebody competent take his place.”
