Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg Welcomes Applications for Summer Internship

Levenberg aims to continue a robust internship program started by former Assemblywoman Sandy Galef

Ossining, NY Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg’s office is inviting students to apply for summer internships in her office, with the aim of continuing the robust internship program maintained by her predecessor, former Assemblywoman Sandy Galef.

“So many people involved in our region’s government and politics went through Assemblywoman Galef’s internship program,” said Levenberg, who managed the intern program during her time as Galef’s chief of staff. “It’s really quite remarkable how many careers were launched here.”

Prospective interns can find the application link at https://bit.ly/AD95Interns and contact Victoria Cafarelli, the Assemblywoman’s chief of staff, at cafarelliv@nyassembly.gov with any questions. Cafarelli, herself a former Galef office intern, can personally attest to the impact of the program.

"So much of what I know about public service, I learned as an intern for Assemblywoman Galef," said Cafarelli. "The staff was always kind and willing to teach interns like me, serving as incredible mentors for a young woman with a budding interest in politics. I am grateful for these early experiences in government that prepared me for my career today. It is exciting to now have the opportunity to 'pay it forward' and hopefully help foster an interest in public service for the interns in our district office."

The office already has several interns who began earlier in the year. “As a current intern, I find that the program is both a great learning experience and quite interesting,” said Gabriel Tomajko, a high school junior from Croton who has been interning in Assemblywoman Levenberg’s office since February. Tomajko has assisted with a variety of tasks in the district office and had the opportunity to shadow the Assemblywoman in Albany during a session day. “You really get to be involved in and see state government in a way that is truly unique. The atmosphere in the office is very pleasant and kind. Frankly, I couldn't think of a better place to both learn about and interact with the political system.”

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis, but applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to maximize the chance of being accommodated.
