119th Street Tennis Association Annual Picnic Celebrates Assemblymember Daniel O’Donnell Initiative to Rehabilitate Tennis Courts

On July 9th at 1 PM, the 119th Street Tennis Association Annual Picnic will celebrate Assemblymember Daniel O’Donnell’s funding initiative to rehabilitate the ten tennis courts on the northern end of Riverside Park.

Assemblymember O’Donnell has secured $50,000 in Community Capital Assistance Program (CCAP) funds for the rehabilitation. In addition, Columbia University has committed $10,000 to the project. All community residents are invited to come, enjoy refreshments and learn more about the tennis courts in Riverside Park at 119th Street.

The 119th Street Tennis Association, under the umbrella of the Riverside Park Fund, operates and maintains the courts for the public’s use. The CCAP funding and Columbia University commitments will be used by the Association to repair court surfaces and mend surrounding fences.

"The tennis courts in Riverside Park at 119th Street add to the quality of life of Westsiders of all ages," says Assemblymember O’Donnell. "There are not many places in the City where one can go for free to play an impromptu game of tennis. We want to ensure that the heavily used courts at 119th Street will continue to be available to the diverse group of neighborhood tennis players who enjoy them now."
