McDonough Reacts To The State Of The State

A statement from the desk of Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick)

“A new year generally brings hope and optimism along with it. It was difficult to feel that today following Gov. Hochul’s State of the State that lacked urgency, focus and spirit to address some of the most pressing issues that New Yorkers actually care about.

“Our efforts should be directed toward making everyday living more affordable in the face of rising consumer costs and inflation.

“The lack of communication and direction from the administration to school districts has been abysmal. It’s hurt and taken away what should be the prime focus: educating our children in the classroom.

“Perhaps most concerning is the lack of sincerity and understanding of just how dire a situation public safety has become. Our state has to do better.

“I’m hopeful Gov. Hochul will work with the state Legislature in a meaningful and bipartisan way to focus on the pressing challenges New Yorkers are facing right now.”
