McDonough: Assembly Majority Will Not Provide Real Tax Relief
March 14, 2006
Today, the Assembly majority unveiled their new plan for “property tax-relief.” The cuts proposed in this plan simply would not provide our working families with the tax relief they so desperately need. Programs proposed by the Assembly minority such as School Tax Relief (STAR) Excelsior, Co-STAR, MetroSTAR, and capping municipal and school district tax levies would all work toward building a better Empire State and reducing our property taxes. The heavy tax burden imposed on our homeowners in this state is in need of real reform and the Assembly minority plan will provide this.
