Assemblyman McDonough Hosts Car Seat Safety Check
July 2, 2007
Assemblyman David G. McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick), center, and the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board conducted a child car seat safety check on Wednesday, June 27 at the Cure` of Ars Church.
“The event was a huge success, and I would like to thank the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board for taking the time to educate parents and caregivers about the proper and safe way to install car seats,” said McDonough.
Common mistakes when installing a child safety seat include:
- not using the right seat for a child’s size and age;
- not placing the seat in the correct direction;
- incorrect installation of the seat in relation to the vehicle’s air bags;
- incorrect installation and tightness of the seat to the vehicle seat; and
- using a defective or broken seat.
