Assemblyman McDonough and Long Island Blood Services Will Hold Blood Drive
All Donors will receive a pair of METS tickets courtesy of Long Island Blood Services
Assemblyman David G. McDonough and Long Island Blood Services will be holding a blood drive on Saturday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Yours Ours Mine Community Center. The center is located at 152 Center Lane in Levittown.
“During the summer months blood reserves diminish because of the active lives we all lead. Donating blood during this time is critical to maintaining supply levels and is the easiest way for you to give back to your community,” said McDonough. “The donation you give today will go a long way to saving lives tomorrow. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Community Center.”
According to Long Island Blood Services:
- Anyone between the ages of 17 to 76, in good health and weighing at least 110 lbs. can donate.
- Although 60 percent of Americans are eligible blood donors, only 5 percent donate nationwide and only 2 percent donate on Long Island.
- About 4 million people receive blood transfusions every year.
All donors will receive two tickets to a New York Mets game courtesy of New York Blood Services for a game in September. You must schedule an appointment. To do so, contact Assemblyman McDonough’s district office by calling (516) 731-8830.
