Senator Fuschillo And Assemblyman McDonough Honor Local World War II Veteran
Assemblyman David G. McDonough was proud to participate with State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., who presented the New York State Medal for Merit to Wantagh resident and veteran Peter Linck.
“Mr. Linck courageously served our country, first as a sergeant in the Army Air Force and later as an Airman First Class in the Air Force Reserve, fighting for the freedoms that we all love and treasure,” said McDonough. “As a veteran, I was proud to participate in this ceremony and bestow this honor on a fellow patriot.”
The New York State Medal for Merit recognizes military personnel who were awarded a valor, achievement, commendation or meritorious service decoration or whose service directly supported combat operations.
Mr. Linck earned the Medal for Merit for his service as a sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. Three years after World War II, Mr. Linck answered the call, once again, to serve his country as an Airman First Class in the Air Force Reserve from 1949 to 1953. Prior to receiving the New York State Medal for Merit, Mr. Linck also earned the American Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Linck is a member of the Wantagh American Legion Post #1273.
“Mr. Linck answered the call to duty to defend our nation and our way of life, not once, but twice. I thank him for his service to our great country and congratulate him on earning this award,” said Senator Fuschillo.
