MTA To Hold Nassau Public Hearing Regarding Changes To LIRR And MTA Services
Nassau County residents can speak directly to MTA officials regarding impact of changes
Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I – Merrick) is encouraging residents of Nassau County to attend a public hearing sponsored by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where they will have an opportunity to comment on and offer suggestions regarding changes to services planned by the MTA. One in a series of hearings being held throughout the MTA-serviced region, the hearing will allow the MTA to listen to the public before making changes, which may adversely affect the communities and people it serves.
“I have long been a strident opponent of the MTA’s reckless use of taxpayer dollars to subsidize poor service and increasing deficits,” said Assemblyman McDonough. “The public hearings being held throughout the MTA region in the coming months will finally allow the people who use the MTA services on a regular basis to have their day and voice their concerns. Additionally, I hope individuals will use this opportunity, not only to criticize, but to offer their suggestions of how to improve the MTA so that this event can be used to initiate the positive change that is grossly needed.”
The hearing, scheduled for March 1, will be held at the Chateau Briand located at 440 Old Country Road in Carle Place. The hearing will start at 6 p.m. Those wishing to speak must register first; the registration for speakers closes at 9 p.m.
