McDonough Honors Cadets During West Point Day
Assemblyman joins fellow lawmakers to welcome cadets to Capitol
Assemblyman David G. McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) recently joined a bipartisan effort by lawmakers to recognize April 26, 2012, as West Point Day. The day highlights the positive impact the United States Military Academy at West Point and members of the armed services past and present have had on New York State history.
“West Point has played an integral role in the progress of our nation,” said McDonough. “The school has produced major historical figures, from Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander of the Allied forces during World War II, to Brig. Gen. Rebecca Halstead (Ret.), the first female to attain general officer rank, to its current dean, Brig. Gen. Timothy Trainor. Having the cadets, the men and women who will be the leaders of tomorrow, join us in the Assembly chamber is both an honor and a privilege. I want to thank the cadets, along with all members of the armed forces past and present, for their sacrifice on behalf of our country.”
As a veteran and a member of the Assembly Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Assemblyman McDonough continues to remain involved in promoting the health and welfare of our veteran population.
